Three Anti Aging Vitamins You’ve Got
To Have
Of the 13 vitamins found in the human body, which
are the best in the fight against the effects of aging? Although all of
them are necessary for a life that is long and healthy, vitamins E, C
and K are arguably three of the most important anti aging vitamins.
Vitamin E
One of the most powerful antioxidants, Vitamin E is an essential weapon
in our daily battle with aging. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin E
give it the ability to reduce the build up of plaque in the arteries
that could lead to stroke or heart attack. These properties also result
in its ability to help fight cancer. We need all the help we can get.
Our bodies take a lot of punishment at the cellular level everyday. It
is estimated that by the time we are 50 years old, up to 30% of the
cellular protein in our body has been damaged by free radicals.
What is a free radical? For me, it’s a little hard to grasp things at
the atomic level, but basically a free radical is an Oxygen molecule
that has lost one of its electrons. This loss happens as a result of all
of the millions of chemical reactions that occur in our bodies everyday.
So, these antioxidants bind up these free radicals and neutralize them.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is probably one of the most familiar vitamins around. Many of
us get this anti aging vitamin from our orange juice every morning.
There are many benefits from getting the proper amount of this anti
aging vitamin. You may recall that hundreds of years ago sailors often
got a disease called “scurvy”. This condition was a result of a
deficiency of Vitamin C, due to a lack of fruit on the ships. We don’t
have to worry about “scurvy” today, but we still need to ensure that
we consume enough Vitamin C every day. Some of the benefits of this anti
aging vitamin are the lowering of blood pressure, the increase of HDL
(the good cholesterol), reduces the risk of cancer and increases white
blood cell count.
Vitamin K
Even though we don’t hear as much about Vitamin K as the other two
anti aging vitamins, vitamin K does play a very important role in our
bodies. For one thing, vitamin K may play a role in the production of
proteins in the body that help to prevent hardening of the arteries.
This condition can lead to heart attacks and is faced by many seniors.
Also, Vitamin K has been found to increase bone density, which is a
benefit in the fight against Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is another issue
of great concern in older adults. People who are on a blood thinner
should check with their doctor before taking Vitamin K.
So remember that even though Vitamins E, C and K are not the only tools
you‘ll need in building your ladder to youthful health, they
absolutely need to be in your toolbox.
