Talking To Yourself Is Fine If You
Have Something Good To Say
Someone once said, “Every day may not be good,
but there's something good in every day. “ It’s all a matter of your
perspective. A positive self-directed dialogue is critical to a
successful anti aging solution.
Face it, we hear ourselves talk more than we hear anyone else in the
world. We are with us 24 X 7, day and night, night and day. We are the
first to hear what our thoughts are on any given situation. We are far
more honest in our unspoken reactions than in our spoken ones. And just
like the things we hear from others, our own dialogue can either bring
us up or bring us down.
So, this anti aging solution revolves around identifying ways to ensure
that the things that we meditate on and those things that foster a
positive outlook. This is so important because research shows that
people with an optimistic view of the world have less disease and are
less likely to suffer from depression. It is thought that the lessening
of these conditions is due to a reduced level of daily stress in those
individuals.
So how do people get into the “negative outlook” rut? There are
several reactions that people can have to the situations in life that
can cause this. Some people automatically blame themselves if something
goes wrong. It doesn’t matter if they could have had a real impact on
the outcome or not. Other people constantly expect the worst possible
outcome to any situation. Still others are unable to find anything
positive in a situation that obviously has both good and bad aspects.
To get out of this rut requires a matter of will. A person will have to,
consciously at first, make themselves acknowledge the good in a
situation. This may take some practice, since “good speak” may be a
new language for them. They will need to take their “positive
feedback” pulse, to see if they are being noticeably negative that
day. And they should not say anything internally to themselves that they
would not say out loud to someone else.
It will take time, but if self-criticism and self-doubt are gradually
replaced with self-esteem and self-confidence then a major milestone in
a person’s anti aging solution will have been achieved.
